Generations at Work: Managing the Clash of Veterans, Boomers, Xers, and Nexters in Your Workplace by Ron Zemke, Claire Raines, Bob Filipczak
Great insights on how to work with various age groups. Very valuable in alumni relations!
Credibility : How Leaders Gain and Lose It, Why People Demand It by James S. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner
Kouzes and Posner have done it again. This is an easy read and very practical. Credibility is where it’s at!
The Fifth Discipline: The Art & Practice of the Learning Organization by Peter M. Senge
Senge’s book is very popular and extremely thought provoking. I’m not quite sure how to apply this to alumni relations but I know my business-type alum are reading this!
Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill
This is my fifth or sixth time through this book. You have to read it!
The Way They Should Go by D. Bruce Lockerbie
This is my second time through this history of The Stony Brook School’s first 50 years. It’s a great resource for my work and contains a lot of the stories of the early days. Too bad it’s out-of-print!
Generating Hope: A Strategy for Reaching the Postmodern Generation
by Jimmy Long
Long doesn’t say much that I haven’t heard before but it’s nice to hear an interested boomer’s perspective on busters. Helpful in gathering language to talk about my generation to other generations.
