Marc's Musings

Life's short. Live passionately.

No more excuses!

December 28th, 2006 by Marc A. Pitman

I’ve been wanting to do this for over a decade. Now I have no excuse. For Christmas, my amazing wife bought me Homebrewing for Dummies and The Homebrewers’ Recipe Guide.

Better still, she corralled my family to give me money for my birthday (on January 6th) so I could purchase the equipment!

Java Stout, here I come!

If you have any advice to a newbie like me, feel free to comment below.

I just realized I subtly let anyone reading this know when my birthday is. Sort of shameless, huh?

To make it more shameless, here’s my Amazon Wishlist. But not if you’re family. ;)

Congrats man! I just bought my kit today, with a Robust Porter recipe kit also. Will be brewing on New Years Day.

So…you comin’ up to Maine in a few weeks? :)

What kit did you go for?

Hopefully we’re comin up in a couple months, you know anyone in Eastern PA looking to buy a house?

Making Robust Porter, from Brewers Best, its in the fermenter as we speak. I decided to go straight by the book with a recipe or two, then I’ll get brave.

The guy that runs my local store is great, I think a relationship with your local supplier will go a long way. Never tried to up-sell me on anything, said “Here is the kit I start people off on” and never even mentioned adding anything to it. Kit looks pretty much like this http://www.homebrewers.com/product/1000, although i bought the hardware and recipe separately.
