Part of a dinner conversation Saturday as I put Tabasco on my mac & cheese:
Cale: I’m going to start using hot sauce when I go to college.
Me: Why?
Cale: ‘Cause I’m going to be a gross dad.
Me: Huh?
Cale: I’m going to use hot sauce when I’m in college because I want to be a dad that’s able to gross out his family like you do.
Affirmation comes in all forms.

An interesting way to help the environment. Their website says:
In 2006, we recruited the participation of more than 500 employers and 5,000 commuters statewide. Together we helped to reduce traffic congestion and auto emissions by eliminating 11,400 auto trips, 117,000 auto miles, over 3 tons of harmful pollution, 4,600 gallons of gasoline, and $76,000 in commuting costs… all in a single day!

I’m not a big Walmart fan although I am a frequent customer.
But I’m really liking their Green campaign. If their 180 million customers each switched to greener products, it does make a huge difference.
Check out this fact sheet on compact flourescent bulbs.
I even heard a report on NPR that Walmart is committed to converting its truck fleet to biodiesel. When you operate the biggest fleet in the country (and world!), you have clout. This should spur lots of changes in that industry.

Mitch Teplitsky recently posted a very nice post on his Soy Andina blog.
The post is: Are you fundraising? Visit Marc Pitman’s site.
Thanks Mitch!

We passed out these seeds over the weekend in honor of Earth Day as another servant evangelism outreach.
Caleb looked at one of these and then blurted out, “Dad!! Church…plant. Get it?! Church plant!!!”
For a look at pictures from our various outreaches, go to http://picasaweb.google.com/marcapitman. (Yeah, one of the photo albums is family. But the rest are VCW!)

…maybe then he’d have remembered to take the waffles off the plate before putting them in the toaster…

I’ve been reading Michael Masterson’s ETR for years.
His article today talks about how we use our free time. We can choose activities that grow us, those that leave us the same, or those that harm us.
I like his categories:
Now that we have DirecTV, I’m watching a lot more TV. Much of it is a very good release for me. But these categories will be helpful too.
Read the whole “Making Our Lives Golden” here.

This is how some of us from the Vineyard Church of Waterville spent a few hours today, with others from the area.
There should be a slide show above this line. If not, try refreshing the screen. Or simply go to the album here:
Sweeping and raking seemed like incarnational interceding for this area.

Just saw an NPR story on the web about Guitar Lessons on YouTube.
But watch them now. The music industry appears to be upset about this guy teaching riffs from popular songs like “Sweet Home Alabama” without paying copyright.
The lessons can be accessed here: http://youtube.com/results?search_query=justin%2C+guitar+lesson
*sigh*
