Then God shows up

September 23rd, 2007 by Marc

I love being a church planter. And I really love Sunday service.

He’s always present, but sometimes he comes in a special way.

Like today.

We don’t normally give prophetic words on a Sunday. But it happened today.

So if you listen to the recording, I’m not sure how it’ll sound. There’s 20-minutes of conversation, words, and prayer before the sermon. Listen for yourself at:
http://watervillevinyard.org/sermons.htm

I love it when God shows up in this way!

(I really loved having the Gordon Nyland Hall RA staff here too!)

Daily Prayer

September 21st, 2007 by Marc

I’ve found the Daily Prayer in John Eldgredge’s Wild at Heart or Waking the Dead to be very helpful.

And now I’ve found an audio version for free at ChristianAudio.com.

To get yours (you’ll have to set up an account), go to: The Daily Prayer.

Out of pocket but lovin’ life

September 21st, 2007 by Marc

Hi folks!

I’ve been out-of-pocket for much of this week but life is good!

  • I’m loving the Outflow readings. Those are really resonating with me. And I’m PUMPED about this week’s sermon!
  • Yesterday I attended my first board meeting of the New England Association of Healthcare Philanthropy and loved it! Anna and I made a day of it by going down to my alma mater, Milton Academy, and getting sweatshirts. She was awesome in sitting through a 2-hour board meeting too!
  • Tonight we’re having our first “Stitchin’….movie” night with a dual focus of hangin’ out with people and making stuff for the homeless shelter. (It’s also to try to develop some commonality on movies so that people can “get” my off-the-cuff movie allusions!!) Tonight we’re watching Sister Act. It’s a bring your own dinner affair starting at 5:30 at our house. Y’all come now, ya hear?”
  • Tonight also, our favorite Gordon College RA staff is coming up for their annual RA retreat. We LOVE this group and are looking forward to a great weekend with them.

I’m sure there’s more but I’m going home to spend some time with my family.

Hope your weekend is as eventful as ours!!

Catching up on Em’s blogs

September 16th, 2007 by Marc

I love being married to a gifted writer.

Click here to read about a devious conversation between our 2 oldest kids.

Click here to see the treadmill we disembowled yesterday.

Click here to read a fabulous re-telling of the woman looking for the gold coin.

And here to see the 1000 piece (ok 997 piece) puzzle.

Kissing the neighborhood

September 16th, 2007 by Marc

You've been kissed!

This week we talked about doing 3 acts of service showing God’s love for every one time of speaking about it to our family and friends. To help, we’re giving out kisses like this.

The kids loved this! We’ve already given out 24, mostly all to neighbors! And we’ve even gotten to meet some we haven’t yet. I love this stuff!

[I'm wondering if the verses about greeting one another with a holy kiss were mistranslated from the Greek. Perhaps the uncorrupted original was "greet one another with a Hershey's kiss." ;) ]

Advent Ale

September 15th, 2007 by Marc

Yep, started my second-ever batch of beer today!

I’m calling it Advent Ale because of the allspice and nutmeg. (It’s a kit beer from MoreBeer.com but Advent Ale sounds lots better than Holiday Ale!)

In Bahhh Hahbah

September 13th, 2007 by Marc

I’m in Bar Harbor learning about recruitment and retention with the rest of the Inland Hospital leadership. Definitely a nice location.

And hard work. Yeah…that’s it. Lot’s of hard work. :)

Later tonight, we’ll be cruising on this:

Outflow 2.4

September 11th, 2007 by Marc

I love the example of Mother Teresa. She’s an amazing woman that took her mustard seed of faith and God used her to do great things.

I really like today’s “getting your feet wet” exercise. We’re to find three things that represent three areas of interest for us.

I think mine will be:

  • laptop (writing, communicating, my blogs, Fundraisingcoach.com, etc.
  • my copy of the Chumash, the Torah with rabbinic commentary, and
  • a photo of my family.

Now we take these items and ask God how we can share each of these areas with him.

Let me know what you choose!
