Fire “Them”

October 8th, 2007 by Marc

I’ve wanted to write a “take charge of your life” blog post for a while now.

But to my great joy, Chris Brogan has done it even better than I would’ve.

First Impressions

October 8th, 2007 by Marc

I ask a group of VCW’ers three core questions every Sunday:

  • What was good?
  • What was bad?
  • What was confusing?

Here’s a great list of questions a group of…well…sort of secret shoppers ask when the attend a church. If you are part of the Vineyard Church of Waterville, please go to this link and read the post.

Thanks to ChurchMarketingSucks.com for this post.

Kissin’ The Neighborhood

October 7th, 2007 by Marc

The Vineyard Church of Waterville is definitely outward focused.

So rather than me talking about it, we decided to practice it today. :)

16 adults and 9 kids gave out about 170 Hershey kisses to our neighbors in just 15 minutes. That’s all it took: fifteen minutes. Why wouldn’t we do this more?

Photos of our experience are available here and should be visible below.

Naming help

October 5th, 2007 by Marc

The Vineyard Church of Waterville is going to run a 3-week class starting Tuesday, October 23. Each week we’ll be looking at a personality assessment or a spiritual gifts assessment.

This is going to be open to our community.

Could you help me name it? (Either leave a comment or email me at marc@watervillevineyard.org).

I just love this sort of thing. It’s helps to have an idea of (1) how we’re wired and (2) that not everyone sees life like we do. Knowing these things helps us find our place in the puzzle of life. Knowing how we’re made can really help us plug into the things that matter most for us.

Big themes. But the names I’m coming up with (”Discovering You” or “Get in touch with your self”) make it feel like some mamsy-pamsy-1970’s-new-age-get-in-touch-with-your-feelings-and-inner-child sort of thing. Or a middle school sex ed course.

Help!

I love the way my wife writes about the quotidian things of life.

I mean, everyone’s had a nasal screw hole heal over in 6 hours and needed to repeirce it, right?

Read about it here at her blog!

Purpose Pays off!

October 3rd, 2007 by Marc

Here’s a terrific article from the AP: “Driven People May Avoid Alzheimer’s.”

Here’s a bit of the article:

Astoundingly, the brains of some of the dutiful people in the study were examined after their deaths and were found to have lesions that would meet accepted criteria for Alzheimer’s — even though these people had shown no signs of dementia.

“This adds to our knowledge that lifestyle, personality, how we think, feel and behave are very importantly tied up with risk for this terrible illness,” Wilson said. “It may suggest new ideas for trying to delay the onset of this illness.”

If you”d like to lead a more purposeful life, or avoid dementia!, the free MagnetGoals program may be an important part of your balanced diet.
