Songs for new parents and their baby girl

My sister-in-law and brother-in-law are having a baby girl. So my job at their shower on Sunday was to get song suggestions from people and make two CDs: one for the baby, one for the new parents. (My wife has lots of cool ideas like that.)

Here’s what we came up with. Some songs were suggested by family and friends. Some are just songs that I love. And on the parent CD, some are songs that they can sing and think of each other.

Love this idea. I’ve done similar things for friends and my own kids. You’ve got a good list, but here are a few more to consider.

Wonder – Colin Meloy. Could go either way, but probably more for the parents. Just beautiful:

Blue Skies – Willie Nelson. This was one of my daughter’s favorites when she was 2.

7 8 9 – Barenaked Ladies. Their entire Snacktime album is great, but my kids really love this one.

Save Some Time to Dream – John Mellencamp, from his new album No Better Than This.

    Thanks Mason! Love the recommendations!

I heard one on the radio today that would’ve been great:
    Happy Together – The Turtles

    Rob Mathes
    Evening Train
    Tiny Hands

Marc Broussard, cool guy out of New Orleans
    Evangeline Rose

Both tunes are all about having a daughter and are on itunes, congrats on the new family member j
